The annual Joy A. and Gayland P. Smith Teaching Award at Roosevelt High School provide funds to honor a Roosevelt High School teacher who has made outstanding contributions to the education of students through classroom instruction and other activities that promote student learning.
This award provides students in the current senior class an opportunity to select the teacher who has made a significant impact on the student’s intellectual and moral growth and development.
Students will nominate teachers who meet the above criteria in March. All Roosevelt High School teachers are eligible for nomination. The current senior class will vote for the teacher of their choice. See your counselor for details.
The teacher will be recognized with a cash award of $5,000, a perpetual trophy, and name recognition on a plaque. This award will be given in May during the student award recognition ceremony.
