Great news for our district’s Hmong programs! The California Wellness Foundation awarded The Foundation for Fresno Unified Schools a $40,000 one-time grant to establish a cultural exchange program for staff and students in our Hmong programs. The funds will allow for additional culturally enriching opportunities such as a trip overseas. Fresno Unified offers a Hmong dual language immersion pathway for preschool through Grade 12 with programs at Vang Pao and Balderas Elementary Schools, Sequoia Middle School and Roosevelt High School. Fresno Unified also offers Hmong heritage classes for high school students. The grant will be used to support educators and broaden experiences for students.
The Foundation is also hosting a campaign on the Adopt-a-Project crowdfunding platform, seeking donations to match the California Wellness Foundation grant.
