Scholarship Winner 2024

College: Fresno State
Career goal: Agribusiness

About Juana: Juana Aguilar will pursue a career in agribusiness, taking advantage of the valley’s ag-based economy and the knowledge she acquired while at Patiño School of Entrepreneurship, a specialty high school where all students develop a business. She was on a team that created Veniro, which offers a 30-day free trial to help non-profit startups attract clients or find their target audience. She also participated in FARMS, a leadership program from the Center for Land-Based Learning that introduces high school students to innovative, hands-on experiences working at working farms, in agribusiness, and in higher education. FARMS sparked Juana’s interest in the business side of agriculture, and she also discovered she enjoys working outside. Juana is interested in a career that allows her to be involved in all aspects of marketing ag products, from production to distribution.

Juana also interned at Quiq Labs, where she helped develop an online platform for a client and learned website design, development, and management.

In Juana’s words: “Patiño has helped me gather skills that will eventually be used in my future career and helped me to come out of my comfort zone.”

“Juana is one of the hardest working students I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. She takes a humble and quiet approach to everything she does and lets the results speak for themselves. I have no doubt that her calm demeanor and focused intellect will bring her success in anything she strives for.”

– Oscar Barragon, counselor at Patiño School of Entrepreneurship
