Project Access

Providing community resources, academic, emotional, financial, and transportation support services to pre-k through 12th grade students who are in foster care and/or are experiencing homelessness.

Project Access

Project Access is a program that focuses on providing community resources, social and emotional support, academic interventions, and transportation services to students identified as foster and homeless from preschool to the 12th grade.

Project Access promotes school connectedness and a sense of belonging on campus by providing students the financial support to participate in arts, activities, and athletics. The program also facilitates foster youth advisory clubs on high school campuses to help students develop leadership and advocacy skills concerning educational laws for foster and homeless students.

Our Impact

The mission of Project Access is to empower and inspire foster and homeless students to be college and career-ready through a holistic and student-centered approach supported by effective community partnerships.

Eleven[11] Clinical School Social Workers provide social and emotional support, individual and group counseling, and intensive case management to 755 Foster and Homeless students in grades 5-12.

All families have access to community resources in support of student success at school.

In 2021-22, we provided the following resources:

79 family referrals to Randy’s Closet for clothing assistance
50 quilts were given to families residing in shelters
300 jackets were given to children in need
School supplies and backpacks were distributed
18 families were referred to housing resources
37 families were provided with Thanksgiving and Christmas donations

The community provides resources and support for Project Access-identified students.

Project Access partners with local community shelters such as the Marjoree Mason Center, Rescue the Children, and Live Again Fresno to coordinate services for students and families residing in shelters and motels.
