Fresno Unified Awards $30,000 in Amazon Scholarships to Three Students

For the first time, the Foundation for Fresno Unified Schools will hand out scholarships from the Amazon Scholarships program. Three Fresno Unified students will be the recipients, with Christian Delgado from Bullard High School, Kimmy Liu from Edison High School, and Juan Diaz Montes from Sunnyside High School each receiving a $10,000 scholarship. This $30,000 total contribution from Amazon is the single largest donation of scholarships yet given to Fresno Unified.

Since the program started in 2009, Fresno Unified has awarded nearly $2 million in scholarships, with $400,000 of that being awarded just this year to 289 graduates. An additional $24,000 in other scholarships brings the total to $424,000 for 292 graduates—the largest amount handed out in the history of the district.
