“It’s a program designed by Fresno students, for Fresno students.”

Thanks to a generous $50,000 grant from Kaiser Permanente, The Foundation for Fresno Unified Students is expanding access to mental health resources across the district—with student voices leading the way.

As ABC30 reports, this new initiative is all about turning student ideas into real solutions. This includes a student-led social media campaign to reduce the stigma around mental health, as well as exploration of mobile and telehealth options.

“We wanted to make sure these solutions are going to work for them,” said Wendy McCulley, President and CEO of The Foundation. “You have to talk to the people you’re designing for you. You have to have them intimately involved in the process.”

With the goal to launch the social media campaign by next year, and roll out the new services within the next two years, it’s clear how the students of our community are stepping up for their peers, and building leadership skills for the future in the process.
